Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School Early Childhood Centre | $2.5m | 2012

This project involved extensive alterations and additions to an existing building near the Grammar School campus. The work consisted of the addition of a single storey, 1000m2 early childhood centre and alterations to the existing building. New carparks and access roads were also installed as part of the contract. The work was completed in three stages to provide early possession to the school.

Scope

The new Tony Brooker Sports Pavilion is located in an elevated position between the schools two playing fields. The building contains 860m2 of floor space over 2 levels. Facilities include storerooms, changerooms, first aid room, amenities, function room, classrooms and also cricket practice nets were installed as part of the development. The large verandahs extend the full perimeter of the building providing an excellent vantage point for viewing the playing fields.

Construction

The building structure consists of structural steel, brick and reinforced concrete. The retaining walls on the West side of the ground floor required strict waterproofing regime. The concrete suspended slab, was completed in one pour. Exposed aggregate concrete features to the pathways and stairs around the building.

Challenges 

Construction access had to be coordinated around the schools movements to avoid disruptions and potential hazards. This mainly affected material deliveries and concrete pours however the project was completed without incident.

Stage 4

Additional facilities were added to the existing Lutheran College in Dalyellup including; 8 General Learning Areas, a new Pre-Primary/ Kindy building, a Staff and Toilet Building, a Covered Activity Area with stage, a new car park, alterations to the existing car park and associated external works. The project commenced mid June and was completed in January ready for the new school year.

Stage 5

After successfully completing Stage 4, Civilcon was awarded the contract to build Stage 5 which consisted of a new library facility and learning rooms. The two-level tilt panel building connected to an existing building on the second level. The building was constructed within the occupied school site with minimum interruptions to students and staff.

A new Early Learning Centre, Library Building, car-park and alterations to the existing St Josephs Primary school in Bunbury. The project commenced in May and was completed in February for the new school year.

Bunbury Senior High School Library | $2.5m | 2009

A new library building was constructed for the Bunbury Senior High School. The building was constructed on a vacant site near the existing high school. The structural steel framed single story building was designed to maximise its energy efficiency. The project was finish on time and within budget.
